He married Melvina Harvey on 14 May 1837, in Caldwell, Missouri, United States. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 4 daughters. He lived in Nauvoo, Hancock, Illinois, United States in 1839 and Salt Lake, Utah, United States in 1850. He died on 21 August 1853, in At Sea, at the age of 42, and was buried in North Sea.
