When Marmaduke Ramsay was born on 10 March 1837, in Boulogne-sur-Mer, Pas-de-Calais, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France, his father, Sir Alexander Burnett-Ramsay, was 52 and his mother, Honorable Elizabeth Maule, was 40. He married Anna Maria Innes on 14 April 1858, in Bengal, India. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 1 daughter. He died on 23 January 1893, in Valletta, Malta, at the age of 55, and was buried in Pietà, Malta.
