When Federico Guillermo Hutt Hess was born on 3 March 1895, in La Unión, Los Lagos, Chile, his father, German Hutt Metzger, was 34 and his mother, Augusta Katharina Hess Schüler, was 24. He married Frida Friederike Günther Schüler in 1925. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 1 daughter. He died on 16 December 1969, in Osorno, Osorno, Chile, at the age of 74.
