1945 · Peace in a Post War World

Age 1

The Yalta Conference was held in Crimea to talk about establishing peace and postwar reorganization in post-World War II Europe. The heads of government that were attending were from the United States, the United Kingdom and the Soviet Union. Later the Conference would become a subject of controversy at the start of the Cold War.
1949 · 1950s Texas Drought

Age 5

One of most intense, costly, and devastating droughts ever recorded in the state of Texas. The entire state was in a state of drought by the summer of 1951. Less than 30-50% of the normal rainfall was received during this period. The state was plagued with dust storms similar to those from the infamous Dust Bowl. The drought ended in a destructive manner throughout 1957; storms, hail, tornadoes, and deadly floods.
1961 · The Twenty-Third Amendment

The Twenty-third Amendment gives the residents in the District of Columbia the right to vote in presidential elections and to give the district electors in the Electoral College.

Name Meaning

English: habitational name from places called Branton in South Yorkshire (formerly in West Yorkshire) and Northumberland or from Braunton in Devon. The first and last are named with Old English brōm ‘broom’ + tūn ‘farmstead’, ‘settlement’. The second is from an Old English word brēmen ‘overgrown with broom’ + tūn ‘farmstead’.
