When James Emett was born on 22 February 1803, in Boone, Kentucky, United States, his father, Silas Emett, was 25 and his mother, Elizabeth* Trowbridge, was 20. He married Phoebe Delphi Simpson on 13 April 1823, in Boone, Kentucky, United States. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 7 daughters. He lived in Nauvoo, Hancock, Illinois, United States in 1839 and Bloody Island, Tehama, California, United States in 1852. He died on 28 December 1852, in Shasta, California, United States, at the age of 49, and was buried in Cottonwood Cemetery, Cottonwood, Shasta, California, United States.
