1700 · French Monarchy

The French monarchy started way before the 1700s, but for the most part the major events of history took place during this time before the French Revolution started. This was known as the Bourbon Dynasty. Louis XIV the Great, Louis XV the Beloved, Louis XVI the Restorer of French Liberty, and Louis XVII all reigned during this time.
1778 · Treaty of Alliance with American Colonies

After the battle of Saratoga France realized that America might be worth backing. They formed an alliance with the colonies and sent naval fleets to help with the war.
1783 · Treaty of Paris is Signed 

While Benjamin Franklin was the ambassador to France he negotiated with the French during the war to keep them on the American side. At the same time the Treaty of Paris was established.
