When Gustav Mahler was born on 7 July 1860, in Kalischt, Deutschbrod, Bohemia, Austria, his father, Bernard Baruch Mahler, was 32 and his mother, Marie Hermann, was 23. He married Alma Margrethe Maria Schindler on 9 March 1902, in Vienna, Austria. They were the parents of at least 2 daughters. He died on 18 May 1911, in Vienna, Austria, at the age of 50, and was buried in Grinzing, Vienna, Austria.

In the Mid 1870s, The United States sought out the Kingdom of Hawaii to make a free trade agreement. The Treaty gave the Hawaiians access to the United States agricultural markets and it gave the United States a part of land which later became Pearl Harbor.
