1829 · Missouri State Library

Age 2

The first Missouri State Library was established by law on January 22, 1829. This law was created due to the large amount of public documents which had been collected in the office of Missouri's secretary of state. The library included documentation of the actions of the Missouri senate and house. The documents were cataloged and made available to the public. The public had access to any of the books in the library from sunup to sundown on any day except Sunday.
1830 · The Second Great Awakening

Age 3

Being a second spiritual and religious awakening, like the First Great Awakening, many Churches began to spring up from other denominations. Many people began to rapidly join the Baptist and Methodist congregations. Many converts to these religions believed that the Awakening was the precursor of a new millennial age.
1830 · The Oregon Trail

Age 3

Many people started their 2,170-mile West trek to settle the land found by Louis and Clark. They used large-wheeled wagons to pack most of their belongings and were guided by trails that were made by the previous trappers and traders who walked the area. Over time the trail needed annual improvements to make the trip faster and safer. Most of Interstate 80 and 84 cover most of the ground that was the original trail.

Name Meaning

Scottish and Irish: reduced Anglicized form of Gaelic Mac Phádraig ‘son of Patrick’, a personal name derived from Latin Patricius ‘son of a noble father’, ‘member of the patrician class’. This was the name of a 5th-century Romano-Briton who became the apostle and patron saint of Ireland, and it was largely as a result of his fame that the personal name was so popular from the Middle Ages onward. In Ireland the surname is usually Scottish in origin, but it is also found as a shortened form of Mulpatrick and Fitzpatrick .
