1941 · Florida Involvement in World War II

Age 11

Similar to the first World War, Florida's location and temperature served as an ideal location for military training; in fact, Florida would end up having 172 military installations. As a result of World War II growth, Camp Blanding became the fourth largest city in Florida, capable of housing over 55,000 soldiers. Many Floridians sacrificed their lives among other Americans to win the war; it's estimated that about 3,000 U.S. deaths were from Floridian troops.
1951 · The Twenty-Second Amendment

Age 21

Before the Twenty-second Amendment, the Presidency didn’t have a set number limit on how many times they could be elected or re-elected to the office of President of the United States. The Amendment sets that limit to two times, consecutively or not, and sets additional conditions for presidents who succeed to the unexpired terms of their predecessors.

Name Meaning

1 English (of Norman origin): via Old French from the Germanic personal name Milo, of unknown etymology. The name was introduced to England by the Normans in the form Miles (oblique case Milon). In English documents of the Middle Ages the name sometimes appears in the Latinized form Milo (genitive Milonis), although the normal Middle English form was Mile, so the final -s must usually represent the possessive ending, i.e. ‘son or servant of Mile’.2 English: patronymic from the medieval personal name Mihel, an Old French contracted form of Michael .3 English: occupational name for a servant or retainer, from Latin miles ‘soldier’, sometimes used as a technical term in this sense in medieval documents.
