When Jose Angel Velasquez Jolon was born on 3 August 1908, in San Bartolomé Milpas Altas, Sacatepéquez, Guatemala, his father, Bonifacio Velasquez Martinez, was 24 and his mother, Rosario Jolon Izcajoc, was 27. He married Agustina Gonzalez on 19 October 1927, in San Bartolomé Milpas Altas, Sacatepéquez, Guatemala. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 1 daughter. He died on 1 November 1971, in his hometown, at the age of 63.
