    1989 · Another Treaty of Paris

    An agreement made that involved the Spanish Empire to let go of Islands that were under their control Caribbean and the South Pacific. Including Cuba, Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Philippines. The Philippines were bought by the US for $20 million instead of giving them their own government. After the Treaty was put into place the United States became a world power.
