Johnson Products Company was formed by George E. Johnson, Sr and it’s best known for hair care and cosmetic products for African American consumers. The company was a longtime sponsor of the TV dance show Soul Train until March 25, 2006. The company was bought by Procter & Gamble in 2004 and in March 2009, an African-American investment firm bought the company from P&G to reestablish its position as an African-American-owned company.
The civil rights movement was a movement to enforce constitutional and legal rights for African Americans that the other Americans enjoyed. By using nonviolent campaigns, those involved secured new recognition in laws and federal protection of all Americans. Moderators worked with Congress to pass of several pieces of legislation that overturned discriminatory practices.
