When Jacobus Berghuis was born on 29 June 1867, in Oldekerk, Groningen, Netherlands, his father, Pieter Berghuis, was 39 and his mother, Hiltje Wolters, was 27. He married Tetje Veldstra on 6 February 1892, in Aduard, Groningen, Netherlands. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 1 daughter. He died on 25 December 1962, in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, United States, at the age of 95, and was buried in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, United States.

1868 · Impeach the President!

Caused by many crimes and breaking the Tenure of Office Act, Many Senators and House Representatives became angry with President Johnson and began discussions of his Impeachment. After a special session of Congress, the Articles of Impeachment were approved by the House and then the Senate. Making Andrew Johnson the first President to be Impeached.

1870 · Amstel Brewery

Amstel Brewery was founded on June 11, 1870, in Amsterdam. It is named after the Amstel River which served for refrigeration. They use ice from canals to help keep their brews cold.

1896 · Plessy vs. Ferguson

A landmark decision of the U.S. Supreme Court upholding the constitutionality of racial segregation laws for public facilities if the segregated facilities were equal in quality. It's widely regarded as one of the worst decisions in U.S. Supreme Court history.
