He married Barbara Stauffer about 1752, in Germany. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 4 daughters. He lived in Dunmore, Virginia, United States in 1775 and Shenandoah, Virginia, United States for about 10 years. He died in April 1814, in Mount Jackson, Shenandoah, Virginia, United States, at the age of 89, and was buried in Shenandoah, Virginia, United States.
