When Pita Otulau Tuaone was born in 1840, in Fahefa, Tongatapu, Tonga, his father, Foki Ma'ulupe ll, was 23 and his mother, Litea Mo'ungaelangi Feletoa, was 21. He married Luseane Vai about 1860. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 3 daughters. He died in 1890, in his hometown, at the age of 50, and was buried in Fahefa, Tongatapu, Tonga.
