The Law of April 6, 1830 was issued because of a concern that part of the colony of Coahuila y Tejas was in danger of being Annexed by the United States due to an influx of American citizens migrating to the land. The provisions of the law were made to encourage Mexican citizens to move within the colony itself.
Santa Anna elected president. Dictatorship established in 1834. End of first liberal reforms. Tithes abolished.
