When Theophilus Franklin Stevens was born on 27 June 1860, in Kearney, Nebraska, United States, his father, William Stevens, was 40 and his mother, Emma Crowden, was 37. He died on 30 May 1879, at the age of 18, and was buried in Brigham City Cemetery, Brigham City, Box Elder, Utah, United States.

In May 1865, Brigham Young placed the cornerstone for the Tabernacle building. The work was delayed because of the construction the railroad. The walls of the Tabernacle begun in 1876. The building was first used in 1881.
