Brief Life History of Nikolai

When Nikolai Andersen was born on 18 November 1858, in Eidsvoll, Akershus, Norway, his father, Anders Olsen, was 37 and his mother, Karen Marie Hansen, was 38. He married Emily Sarah Rawlings on 16 December 1891. He died on 20 January 1949, in Elwood, Box Elder, Utah, United States, at the age of 90, and was buried in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, United States.

Abraham Lincoln issues Emancipation Proclamation, declaring slaves in Confederate states to be free.

1865 · Cornerstone is Laid for the Tabernacle

In May 1865, Brigham Young placed the cornerstone for the Tabernacle building. The work was delayed because of the construction the railroad. The walls of the Tabernacle begun in 1876. The building was first used in 1881.

1882 · The Chinese Exclusion Act

A federal law prohibiting all immigration of Chinese laborers. The Act was the first law to prevent all members of a national group from immigrating to the United States.
