He married Mary Elizabeth Parry on 23 May 1852, in Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie, Iowa, United States. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 7 daughters. He died on 17 March 1898, in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, United States, at the age of 72, and was buried in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, United States.

1842 · Mines and Collieries Act of 1842

The Parliment of the United Kingdom passed the Mines and Collieries Act of 1842, mostly commonly known as the Mines Act of 1842. This act made it so that nobody under the age of ten could work in the mines and also females in general could not be employed.
