When Hannah Workman was born on 21 February 1821, in Carlisle, Nicholas, Kentucky, United States, her father, John Workman, was 31 and her mother, Lydia Bilyeu, was 27. She married John Rigsby in 1839, in Overton, Tennessee, United States. They were the parents of at least 1 daughter. She immigrated to Deseret, Millard, Utah, United States in 1852 and lived in Henry, Tennessee, United States in 1840. She died on 28 December 1873, in Springville, Utah, Utah, United States, at the age of 52, and was buried in Springville City Cemetery, Springville, Utah, Utah, United States.

1825 · The Crimes Act

The Crimes Act was made to provide a clearer punishment of certain crimes against the United States. Part of it includes: Changing the maximum sentence of imprisonment to be increased from seven to ten years and changing the maximum fine from $5,000 to $10,000.

1830 · The Second Great Awakening

Being a second spiritual and religious awakening, like the First Great Awakening, many Churches began to spring up from other denominations. Many people began to rapidly join the Baptist and Methodist congregations. Many converts to these religions believed that the Awakening was the precursor of a new millennial age.

1836 · Remember the Alamo

Being a monumental event in the Texas Revolution, The Battle of the Alamo was a thirteen-day battle at the Alamo Mission near San Antonio. In the early morning of the final battle, the Mexican Army advanced on the Alamo. Quickly being overrun, the Texian Soldiers quickly withdrew inside the building. The battle has often been overshadowed by events from the Mexican–American War, But the Alamo gradually became known as a national battle site and later named an official Texas State Shrine.

Name Meaning

English (Gloucestershire): ostensibly an occupational name for a laborer, from Middle English werkman ‘laborer, craftsman’, also ‘customary tenant’ (Old English weorcmann). A customary tenant was a person allowed to hold land in exchange for carrying out a certain service.
