Brief Life History of James John

When James John Page was born on 10 January 1830, in Bellefontaine, Logan, Ohio, United States, his father, Lindsay Azbey Page, was 28 and his mother, Achsah Harris, was 32. He married Elener Gooden on 20 May 1853, in Logan, Ohio, United States. He lived in Panguitch, Iron, Utah, United States in 1877. He died on 21 December 1914, in Panguitch, Garfield, Utah, United States, at the age of 84, and was buried in Panguitch City Cemetery, Panguitch, Garfield, Utah, United States.

1832 · The Black Hawk War

Convinced that a group of Native American tribes were hostile, The United States formed a frontier militia to stop them in their tracks. Even though Black Hawk was hoping to avoid bloodshed while trying to resettle on tribal land, U.S. officials opened fire on the Native Americans. Black Hawk then responded to this confrontation by successfully attacking the militia at the Battle of Stillman's Run and then left northward. After a few months the militia caught up with Black Hawk and his men and defeated them at the Battle of Wisconsin Heights. While being weakened by hunger, injuries and desertion, Black Hawk and the rest of the many native survivors retreated towards the Mississippi. Unfortunately, Black Hawk and other leaders were later captured when they surrendered to the US forces and were then imprisoned for a year.

1857 · The State Capital moves to Des Moines

The Capitol was located in Iowa City until the 1st General Assembly of Iowa recognized that the Capitol should be moved farther west than Iowa City. Land was found two miles from the Des Moines River to start construction of the new building. Today the Capitol building still stands on its original plot.
