Francis Joseph Flanagan was born on 6 January 1876, in Charlestown, Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts, United States as the son of Thomas F Flanagan and Rosanna Jane Batridge. He died on 2 October 1963, in Utica, Oneida, New York, United States, at the age of 87, and was buried in Yorkville, Oneida, New York, United States.

1881 · The Assassination of James Garfield

Garfield was shot twice by Charles J. Guitea at Railroad Station in Washington, D.C. on July 2, 1881. After eleven weeks of intensive and other care Garfield died in Elberon, New Jersey, the second of four presidents to be assassinated, following Abraham Lincoln.
