When Virginia Cortes Maldonado was born on 15 October 1909, in Barceloneta, Puerto Rico, her father, Francisco Cortes, was 25 and her mother, Cresencia Maldonado, was 23. She married Bienvenido Olivo Soto on 30 March 1924. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 4 daughters. She lived in Caimital Bajo, Aguadilla, Puerto Rico in 1930 and Higüey, Aguadilla, Puerto Rico for about 10 years. She died on 25 June 1985, in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, at the age of 75.
