He died on 23 August 1908, in Pennsylvania, United States, at the age of 69, and was buried in Highland Cemetery, California, Washington, Pennsylvania, United States.

There is possible influence from the Old Norse personal names Hróthrekr (see Roderick ) and Hróthgeirr (see Rogers 2), forms of which were used as Anglicized equivalents.
