1916 · The First woman elected into the US Congress

Jeannette Pickering Rankin became the first woman to hold a federal office position in the House of Representatives, and remains the only woman elected to Congress by Montana.
1919 · Minimum Wage Laws Passed

Age 4

The first minimum wage law took effect in 1919 and specified women and children under 17 years of age should be paid 22 cents per hour.
1937 · The Neutrality Act

Age 22

The Neutrality Acts were passed in response to the growing conflicts in Europe and Asia during the time leading up to World War II. The primary purpose was so the US wouldn't engage in any more foreign conflicts. Most of the Acts were repealed in 1941 when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor.
