He immigrated to Utah, United States in 1854 and lived in Sønderjylland, Denmark for about 5 years and Los Angeles, Los Angeles, California, United States in 1860. He died on 13 December 1878, in San Francisco, California, United States, at the age of 75, and was buried in San Francisco, California, United States.
