Robert Reid was born on 10 June 1838, in Ireland as the son of William Reid and Jane Wallace. He married Sarah Elliot on 19 May 1859, in Dungannon, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom. He lived in County Armagh, Ireland in 1850. In 1870, at the age of 32, his occupation is listed as shoesmaker in Ohio, United States. He died on 25 December 1888, in Sandyville, Tuscarawas, Ohio, United States, at the age of 50.
