1934 · Scottish National Party founded.

Age 7

The party was founded on 7 April as the result of a merger between the National Party of Scotland and the Scottish Party with the help of John MacCormick. Its main objective was to campaign the independence of Scotland from the United Kingdom. The Scottish National Party is the largest political party in Scotland in terms of both seats in the Westminster and Holyrood parliaments, with membership reaching 125,482 members. The party does not have any members of the House of Lords.

1950 · The Stone of Scone

Age 23

Also known as the Stone of Destiny, the Stone of Scone was often used as a Coronation stone for the monarchs of Scotland and, later, those of England. The stone was kept at the Scone Abbey near Perth but was last used in 1953 for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. Today a replica exists outside the remodeled Scone Abbey for visitors to learn of its history and its importance. The actual stone is housed in Edinburgh Castle.
