Rafael Esquer Padilla was born in 1880, in Santa Cruz, Sonora, Mexico as the son of Eligio Esquer Fernández and Basilisa Padilla. He married Refugio Fraijo Palomino on 26 July 1903, in Banámichi, Sonora, Mexico. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 2 daughters. He died on 6 November 1955, in his hometown, at the age of 75.
