He married María Pastora Zúñiga Epíndola on 20 August 1920, in San Pedro, Lebrija, Santander, Colombia. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 4 daughters. He died in 1948, in Lebrija, Santander, Colombia, at the age of 58.
