As a result of World War II growth, Camp Blanding became the fourth largest city in Florida, capable of housing over 55,000 soldiers. Many Floridians sacrificed their lives among other Americans to win the war; it's estimated that about 3,000 U.S. deaths were from Floridian troops.

    The Yalta Conference was held in Crimea to talk about establishing peace and postwar reorganization in post-World War II Europe. The heads of government that were attending were from the United States, the United Kingdom and the Soviet Union. Later the Conference would become a subject of controversy at the start of the Cold War.
