He married Cecilia Hackett on 14 November 1844, in Leighlinbridge, Agha, County Carlow, Ireland. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 2 daughters. He died on 12 September 1886, in Old Leighlin, County Carlow, Ireland, at the age of 69.
