Prime minister Eduardo Dato is assassinated after meeting with parliament, in Madrid.
1923 · Primo de Rivera coup

Catalonian captain, Miguel Primo de Rivera takes over as dictator, replacing King Alfonzo XII, who does nothing to oppose the coup. King Alfonzo XII even names Primo de Rivera head of government in front of the entire military.
1930 · Signing of San Sabastian pact
