When Anderson Tiller was born on 16 December 1810, in Ohio, United States, his father, William Tiller, was 22 and his mother, Rebecca Clay, was 21. He married Priscilla Perdue on 26 April 1831, in Giles, Virginia, United States. They were the parents of at least 9 sons and 4 daughters. He lived in Geneseo Township, Tama, Iowa, United States in 1870 and Beaver Township, Butler, Iowa, United States in 1880. He died on 2 May 1885, in Black Hawk, Iowa, United States, at the age of 74, and was buried in Hill Cemetery, Tama, Iowa, United States.

War of 1812. U.S. declares war on Britain over British interference with American maritime shipping and westward expansion.

1812 · Monumental Church Built

The Monumental Church was built between 1812-1814 on the sight where the Richmond Theatre fire had taken place. It is a monument to those that died in the fire.

1830 · The Second Great Awakening

Being a second spiritual and religious awakening, like the First Great Awakening, many Churches began to spring up from other denominations. Many people began to rapidly join the Baptist and Methodist congregations. Many converts to these religions believed that the Awakening was the precursor of a new millennial age.

Name Meaning

English (southern, especially Hampshire): occupational name from Middle English tiliere, tilyer ‘one who tills the soil, husbandman, farmer, farm laborer’. This is a derivative of Old English tilian ‘to till (the soil)’, Middle English tilie. There has been some confusion of this name with Tyler .

German: variant of Tüller (see Tuller ).
