Name Meaning

Spanish form (Echevarría) of Basque Etxeberria: topographic or habitational name from the Basque elements etxe ‘house’ + berri ‘new’ + the definite article -a. This is the origin of the name of a village near Pamplona, now called Xabier, the birthplace of St. Francis Xavier ( 1506–52 ), missionary to East Asia.
