When Marte Larsen was born on 27 October 1827, in Luster, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway, her father, Lars Arneson, was 33 and her mother, Kari Thomasdotter, was 23. She married Ole Pedersen on 3 July 1854, in Luster, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 2 daughters. She immigrated to United States in 1895. She died on 27 July 1922, in Hendrum, Norman, Minnesota, United States, at the age of 94.
