1919 · The Eighteenth Amendment

Age 1

The Eighteenth Amendment established a prohibition on all intoxicating liquors in the United States. As a result of the Amendment, the Prohibition made way for bootlegging and speakeasies becoming popular in many areas. The Eighteenth Amendment was then repealed by the Twenty-first Amendment. Making it the first and only amendment that has been repealed.

The Cleveland Museum of Natural History was established by Cyrus S. Eaton as a way to research and educate others in anthropology, archaeology, astronomy, botany, geology, paleontology, biology, and zoology. The first curator of the museum was Donald Johanson, the discoverer of Lucy.

President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed a law recognizing that Ohio was admitted into the Union, since it had previously slipped through the cracks. The official date of admittance was agreed upon as March 1, 1803, ratified as of May 19, 1953.

Scottish: patronymic from the personal name Brice + -son (see Brice and Bryce ).

Irish (Donegal): Anglicized form of Gaelic Ó Briosáin, a form of Ó Muirgheasáin (see Morrissey ), altered by association with the Scottish surname Bryson, especially in Derry. Bryson was also used for Breslin in Donegal.
