When Simanualii Molio'o Lutu was born about 1854, in Fagatogo, Maoputasi, Eastern, American Samoa, his father, Taeletoto Lutu Afoa, was 27 and his mother, Salaivai Taematuia, was 22. He married Tauaimalo Tuaolo before 1872, in Western, American Samoa. They were the parents of at least 1 son and 2 daughters. He died on 29 January 1934, in his hometown, at the age of 80, and was buried in Tutuila, Eastern, American Samoa.
