Brief Life History of Karen

When Karen Jensdatter was born on 6 April 1805, in Sønder Højrup, Vindinge, Svendborg, Denmark, her father, Jens Hansen, was 35 and her mother, Zidsel Hansdatter, was 36. She married Christian Andersen on 8 May 1829, in Sankt Povls, Slagelse, Sorø, Denmark. They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 3 daughters. She immigrated to Utah, United States in 1862 and lived in Tårnborg, Slagelse, Sorø, Denmark for about 11 years. She died on 9 February 1897, in Mount Pleasant, Sanpete, Utah, United States, at the age of 91, and was buried in Mount Pleasant City Cemetery, Mount Pleasant, Sanpete, Utah, United States.

1808 · Dannebrogordenens Haederstegn

Dannebrogordenens Haederstegn, The Cross of Honour of the Order of the Dannebrog, is an award connected to the Danish Order of the Dannebrog. The cross was instituted by King Frederick VI of Denmark and Norway on June 28, 1808 and was named Dannebrogsmendenes Haederstegn until 1952. The award is given to any Dane who has provided a service to Denmark through a noble deed. The cross is considered an additional recognition if awarded to someone who is already a holder of the Order.
