When John Hazen was born on 21 January 1771, in Swanzey, Cheshire, New Hampshire, United States, his father, Dr. Edward Hazen, was 32 and his mother, Sarah Williard, was 35. He married Polly Blodgett on 10 January 1809. They were the parents of at least 9 sons. He died on 21 November 1838, in Copenhagen, Lewis, New York, United States, at the age of 67.
