When John Bentinck Blaine was born on 29 January 1883, in New Zealand, his father, John Bentinck Blaine, was 23 and his mother, Charlotte Harris, was 18. He married Sadie Annie Hawkins in 1909, in New Zealand. He died on 24 August 1949, in Gisborne, New Zealand, at the age of 66, and was buried in Taruheru Cemetery, Makauri, Gisborne, New Zealand.

1887 · New Zealands's First National Park

Tongariro National Park was the sixth national park established in the world and the first in New Zealand. In the center of the park there lies three active volcanic mountains (Ruapehu, Ngauruhoe, and Tongariro). it is home to the famed Tongariro Alpine Crossing day hike and has been recognized as a World Heritage Site for all its natural values.
