When Polly Ann Pierson was born on 2 January 1796, in Hanover, Hanover Township, Morris, New Jersey, United States, her father, John Pierson, was 32 and her mother, Susanna Russell, was 26. She married Moses Isaac Gardner on 2 February 1815, in Seneca, New York, United States. They were the parents of at least 9 sons and 2 daughters. She lived in Nauvoo, Hancock, Illinois, United States in 1839. She died on 29 July 1852, in Kearney, Nebraska, United States, at the age of 56, and was buried in Florence, Douglas, Nebraska, United States.

1800 · Movement to Washington D.C.

While the growth of the new nation was exponential, the United States didn’t have permanent location to house the Government. The First capital was temporary in New York City but by the second term of George Washington the Capital moved to Philadelphia for the following 10 years. Ultimately during the Presidency of John Adams, the Capital found a permanent home in the District of Columbia.
