In 1982, the World’s fair was held in Knoxville Tennessee. The theme was Energy Turns the World and it had around 11 million visitors, making it the most popular of the world’s fairs in US history. Sadly it left the city $46 million in debt. The only way to reserve a hotel room or any room for that fact was to get them with a package deal by going to the fair.
