    1875 · A Treaty with Hawaii

    In the Mid 1870s, The United States sought out the Kingdom of Hawaii to make a free trade agreement. The Treaty gave the Hawaiians access to the United States agricultural markets and it gave the United States a part of land which later became Pearl Harbor.

    1881 · Great Synagogue

    Age 8

    Located in Łódź, Poland, the Great Synagogue of Łódź was built in 1881. Adolf Wolff designed the layout. Referred to as The Temple, it served the reformed congregation for many years. Unfortunately, the synagogue was burned and destroyed by Germans in 1939.

    Name Meaning

    Hebrew: The Scripture name, in Hebrew, Adham, signifying 'man;' literally earthy, red earth; Rudolph, however, says the name in Ethiopic means ' to be fair, beautiful.' Hence the nurse-name Addy, little Adam.
