1920 · Treaty of Versailles

The Treaty of Versailles was signed in Paris to formally end WWI. It established Peace between the allied forces and set guidelines for Germany.
1931 · The Bagnell Dam and Lake of the Ozarks

Age 14

The Bagnell Dam on the Osage River was completed in 1931. The dam was built to generate hydroelectric power to the Osage Power Plant. The building of the dam created Lake of the Ozarks, one of the largest man-made lakes in the world, and over 1,000 miles of shoreline.

Origin unidentified. Possibly an Anglicized or Americanized form of French Chaumard, a nickname for a lazy person, from a derivative of Old French caume ‘great heat’.
