When Patricia McFarlane was born on 17 January 1928, in Patutahi, Auckland, New Zealand, her father, Carl Victor McFarlane, was 21 and her mother, Phoebe Stuart, was 19. She married Geoffrey Edward Leach in 1949. She died in 1984, in her hometown, at the age of 56, and was buried in New Zealand.
