1899-04-22: National Congress decreed a return to the twenty states of 1864. This change was embodied in the new constitution, which was adopted on 1901-04-13. The 1901 constitution defined the states to be the same as under the 1864 constitution, with the following names changed: Guayana to Bolívar.
