Name Meaning

Portuguese and Spanish: from the personal name Nolasco, derived from the name of Petrus Nolascus (Saint Peter of Nolasco), who was born in Carcassone in 1189 and died in Barcelona in 1256 , where he was co-founder and leader of the order of S. Maria della Mercede ‘Our Lady of Ransom’, known in English as the Mercedarians.
