Lázaro Cárdenas presidency. Forced exile of Calles (1936). Cárdenas begins socialist policies. Agrarian reform establishes ejidos (see Glossary) and collectivization. 1934 · �Palacio de Bellas Artes Opens

The Palace of Fine Arts, is the first national theater in Mexico. Construction begins in 1904 by architect Adamo Boari, with a pause in 1913, due to the Mexican revolution. Federico Mariscal finishes the project in 1934. The first stone is place by president Porfirio Diaz.
1954 · Ciudad Universitaria�campus built in�Coyoac�n

Construction for the new school of engineering starts in 1950 and wraps up in 1954. The building is a hybrid of modern architecture and classic Mexican influences. It is on the UNESCO's World Heritage List.
