When Heinrich Lange was born on 25 January 1926, in Bydgoszcz, Kuyavia-Pomerania, Poland, his father, Franz Nieruszewicz, was 26 and his mother, Emma Lang, was 24. He married Helga Else Bauer on 28 February 1951, in Berlin, Brandenburg, Germany. He died on 9 July 2007, at the age of 81.

Nazi Germany invades Poland. Beginning of World War II as the United Kingdom declares war on Germany in response to the invasion. The Soviet Union invades from the east. Germany and the Soviet Union divide Poland between them and treat Polish citizens, particularly Jews, with extreme brutality.

1951 · Trial of the Generals

Age 25

From July 31 to August 31 of 1951, the communist authorities of Poland carried out a politically-motivated totalitarian trial. The primary targets of the proceedings were officers of the Polish Army who had served during  the first or second World Wars. In order to imprison these individuals, the communist authorities falsely accused these individuals of conspiring with British and American intelligence services. The accused generals were sentenced to life imprisonment and over 20 officers were executed. The remaining prisoners were set free in 1956 after the end of Stalinism in Poland.
